Useful expression: To add fire/fuel to the flame

To add fire/fuel to the flameFig. to make a problem worse; to say or do something that makes a bad situation worse; to make an angry person get even angrier.

Eg:

I believe the lesson has been learned and there is no need to add additional fire to the flame
